
In the past, it was primarily used as a driving, herding, guard and farm dog. Today, the Entlebucher Mountain Dog is suitable, among other things, as a sports dog and is even used as a rescue, avalanche or therapy dog. The Entlebucher is also a loyal, incorruptible family dog.
The Entlebucher Mountain Dog was finally recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on July 28, 1954. The country of origin is Switzerland. The breed is looked after by the Swiss Club for Entlebucher Mountain Dogs SKES.

Medium-sized, compactly built with a slightly elongated format. It has stock hair, his fur is shiny.
Character & Temperament
Bright, agile, persistent, self-confident and spirited. Is an intelligent, fearless and very loyal dog.
Care & Health
Robust with its stick hair, is both very weatherproof and easy to care for. Can live upto 15 years old.
Training & Education
Must be raised lovingly but consistently from an early age. Is suitable for sports, therapy and rescue dog.
Entlebucher mountain dogs have strong personalities. They’re very enthusiastic dogs — so much so that they can be overwhelming for inexperienced owners.
They’re intelligent dogs that like having work to do. When given a task, they complete it with stubborn determination.
Overall, the Entlebucher mountain dog temperament is that of a happy playmate combined with a hard worker. The American Kennel Club (AKC) rates them a five out of five for their affectionate behavior with their families.
